Yet with all the benefits that come with a Facebook Fan page, how do you separate your page from the thousands of other Fan pages currently available on Facebook and make your Fan page stand out?
This post is the first in a series of posts I’m creating to provide you with some rockin tips to help make your Facebook Fan page stand out from the crowd.
Creating Your Facebook Fan Page
First we’re going to create your Facebook Fan page. We need to get this out of the way so we can get to the really cool stuff! If you already have a Facebook Fan Page, you can skip this section and head to the “Make Your Page ROCK!!!” section of this post below.
Before we begin, you must first ensure you have a personal profile on Facebook before you can create a Fan page. Facebook requires you to have a personal profile on Facebook in order to administer your Fan page. Next, you’ll need to decide what you’re going to name your Fan page. Your Fan page name can be your name, your business name or whatever you want. Once you’ve decided on a Fan page name, follow these steps to create your page.
Step 1: Login To Your Facebook Profile
First you must login to your Facebook profile by entering your username and password in the fields provided in the upper right hand corner of the site.

Upon logging in, you will be presented with your “Home” page which lists the news feed from all the status updates and new content posts of all your Facebook friends.
Step 2: Navigate to Ads and Pages
To set up a Facebook Fan page, you’ll need to navigate to the Page creation wizard provided by Facebook. While on your “Home” page, click the “Ads and Pages” link displayed in the left menu column to navigate to the Page creation wizard. If this menu option is not displayed you can find the Fan Page Creation Wizard here.
Clicking on the “Ads and Pages” link will take you to the Facebook Page creation wizard where you can now begin creating your Facebook Page.
Step 3: Click the Create Page Button
To begin creating your Facebook Fan Page, click the “Create Page” button to be taken to the wizard where you will enter all the details regarding your Facebook Page.
The page creation wizard will now display where you can enter the relevant details about your Facebook Fan page.
Step 4: Create Your Facebook Page
In the page creation wizard, first decide what type of page you are going to create. There are three types of Facebook Pages you can create:
- Official Page – Communicate with your customers and fans.
- Community Page – Generate support for your favorite cause or topic.
- Group – Communicate with other Facebook members who share a common interest or hobby.
In this case, we are going to create an “Official Page”, because our purpose is to communicate and interact with our customers more directly.
Under the “Official Page” option select from one of three bullet points to indicate what type of page your new Facebook Page is going to be so Facebook can categorize it properly. The three options are:
- Local business
- Brand, product or organization
- Artist, band or public figure
Once you select an option, a drop down menu will appear under the select option asking you to be more specific about the type of page you are creating. From within the drop down menu, select the option that best describes your page. In this case, I’m creating a page about myself, so I’ve selected the third option and indicated I’m a “public figure”. Make what ever selection that is appropriate for your business, then mark the check box that indicates you are an official representative…
Once you’ve entered all the details, click the “Create Official Page” button to create your Facebook Fan Page.
Now you are a force to be reckoned with cuz you have now successfully created an official Facebook Fan Page! Now we’re going to make your page ROCK!!!
In the next post I’ll share with how to import your website RSS feed into your newly created Facebook Fan page.
To Your Success!
