As part of my journey toward living a more prosperous and successful life, I frequently spend quality time on personal development. Â As I continue this exploration of myself I’ve been reading a book entitled Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul: How to Create a New You from my favorite author Deepak Chopra. Â In the book Deepak provides a very enlightening and informative quiz which allows us to rate our bodies energy efficiency to help demonstrate how if affects our daily lives. Â This short quiz helped me to identify areas of myself and my life which need improving and I wanted to share it with you in an effort to help enlighten you further. Â Further more, Deepak provides solutions on how to improve these areas of your life in his book, which I’m finding to be a very enlightening and impressive read. Â I highly recommend you pick up a copy from Amazon!

To get a better idea of what energy efficiency means and how it is affecting you, take the following profile quiz. Â For each item, rate yourself from 1 to 3 according to how well it describes you and total it up at the end.
- 3 – This is how I am almost all the time.
- 2 – This is how I am some of the time.
- 1 – This is how I am a little of the time.
- I leave work on time every day. Â I don’t stay late more than one day a week.
- I get up and go to sleep at the same time every day.
- My desk at work is organized. Â There’s not a big backlog.
- I don’t procrastinate. Â I believe that the best way to handle unpleasant tasks is to face them right away.
- I don’t harbor negativity for a long time. Â Keeping score and waiting for payback isn’t my style.
- My closet is organized. Â I can get at anything I want easily.
- My refrigerator isn’t full of leftovers. Â I’m not surprised by old fruits and vegetables I forgot I had.
- I know where I stand emotionally with the people in my life. Â We are open and clear with one another.
- I know my weaknesses and have a plan for overcoming them. Â I will be stronger tomorrow than I was yesterday.
- I use money well. Â I don’t hoard and I don’t spend recklessly. Â I am not worried about my credit card balances.
- My salary fits my needs for now and the future. Â I am a good financial planner.
- My yard is maintained in all seasons. (If you don’t have a yard, substitute patio, balcony, house plants, or personal environment.)
- I keep up with my housekeeping. Â I’m not faced with accumulated dust and dirt that’s piled up for weeks.
- When I go shopping, I come back with what I need. Â I rarely have to run back because I forgot something.
- I keep up with how everyone in my family is doing. Â I have a good idea of what’s going on in their lives.
- I don’t have to rush at the last minute to get things done. Â I am good a scheduling and balancing my time.
- I feel that there’s a good balance between work and play in my life. Â I’m having fun and getting things done.
Total Score:
43-51 points. You are leading an efficient life and have a good chance of feeling comfortable, contented, and in control. Â There are no drastic imbalances in how you use your time and energy. Â Each aspect of your existence is give a good amount of attention.
36-42 points. Your life is mostly under control and runs along well enough. Â You have minor areas of neglect, however, and there are times when you feel a little overwhelmed by all the things left undone.
26-35 points. Your life is inefficient. Â You have a sense that you are treading water rather than getting ahead. Â Too much is out of your control, and your ability to cope with everyday challenges in only adequate. Â To begin to feel more comfortable, you will have to discipline yourself and change your habits. Â Look realistically at your inefficient ways, because sloppiness or disorganization, procrastination or denial, impulsiveness or neglect drain our energy.
17-25 points. Your life is barely your own because so much is out of your control. Â Daily life is a struggle just to keep things together, and most days you feel that you are losing that fight. Â On the periphery something very wrong is probably happening. Â You are being held back either psychologically or by bad circumstances. Â To get back on track, outside professional help will be needed.
Deepak goes on to explain that the best way to provide a solution for the inefficient use of our bodies energy is to become more aware. Â I have to say, the more aware of myself I become, the more free I feel!
